To All American Citizens.......... On Tuesday afternoon, September 11, 2001, as I listened to continuing coverage of the greatest and most horrific terrorist act our world has ever experienced, I heard Brian Williams on MSNBC discussing events with a colleague, Tim Russert. I have, in the past, held these two members of the broadcast media in high esteem. I no longer do. I listened with increasing anger and revulsion as they pontificated about how the President needed to show the American People he was leading and posed questions about why he would be diverted to Omaha, Nebraska from Louisiana. Also posed by the media as a question, was why a spokesperson would speak for him. Since then, I have heard Peter Jennings, Dan Rather and other News Anchors make similar comments. They know well the emergency response plans call for the President to do exactly as he and the members of the federal governmental agencies were doing. Although the average person in this country may not know, they, the members of the news media, know the emergency response plans have been in place for years. The emergency response plans were formulated based on sound reason and with the good of this country and its people in mind. The members of the news media knew this and rather than assisting in calming viewers or listeners, their comments aggravated one of the most serious events in our nation's history. Rather than calling one another heroes as some did, the members who made those comments should be ashamed! I think it obvious that the magnitude of this cowardly and dastardly deed is not yet totally known. It may well be that the comments of these members of the media were made during the stress of trying to report to the nation and the world the facts of one of the most despicable terrorist act ever experienced in Western Civilization. But this much we can be sure, our country is, at this time, experiencing a state of war, even if the identity of the enemy is not yet known and those comments were and are totally out of place. Most Americans are likely to be experiencing, in addition to emotions of horror, shock, initial disbelief, sadness and outrage, a desire to want to act and to help for some time to come. I suggest to you that we can, in addition to giving blood, act in a way that binds this country together, to unite as the previous generation did in World War II, as the people of the United Kingdom did in that same terrible time and as the Americans, who were and are also known as Oklahomans, did in the not too distant past. We can and will bond together, and speculation by
people who are on the sidelines and who are acting in an
irresponsible way need to be called sharply to task.
We need to tell them, in no uncertain terms, to cease and
desist in any action that would undermine the morale of our
country and possibly become an unwitting threat to national
security. Let us
unite, rather than divide, our people.
Make it known that applies to ALL Americans, including
the news media!!! We, you and I, can do this! The world changed on this particular Tuesday and the magnitude of that change is not yet understood. Whatever the future holds, let us face it together and not be fragmented by scurrilous and irresponsible speculation by people who do not know whereof they speak or do, and intentionally, act irresponsibly anyway! To those of you who believe, as I do, that prayer changes things, I offer that we need to place prayer at the top of our “To Do” list. So I end this message with the fervent prayer that God will bless America, provide the balm that heals our wounds and give us the wisdom to identify and prosecute the cowards for this attack on our people and our land! Irresponsible
Actions, in my opinion: I wrote the words contained on this page on the date cowards from other countries attacked the United States of America. My disgust for those United States Citizens who, in my opinion, give aid and comfort to the enemy by feasting on the fruits of the greatest nation on earth and then cast great criticism on our Commander in Chief and other leaders of the Administration in a time of national peril continues to grow. I despise their despicable and reprehensible acts. Again in my opinion, there is no doubt they have harmed the country and its people who contributed to their having a lifestyle the likes of which could have never been attained in any place else on this planet. Regardless of whether or not their comments rise to the legal definition of treason, sedition or giving aid and comfort to the enemy, I believe they are coconspirators seeking to do great harm to this country which I love and in which I am privileged to live. Just many people have never forgotten the actions of the one that some have labeled "Hanoi Jane", may these people be ever remembered for their actions! I find it bitterly ironic that without our votes and dollars building their reputations, these people would have never become attractive to the news media. I don't know about you but I will never vote for, or economically support, them as long as I live!
