First,
a comment: The
midi you hear in the background (and the Real Audio of Bette Midler and the
lyrics found at Wind
Beneath My Wings), is special to me
for two reasons. First, because this is my song to Terry. As Chief of Detectives
in a large local city, for a number of years, and then as the first Inspector
General for that city, it was not unusual for people to pay particular attention
to me, to act like I was special. They did not take the time to see that she was
the special one. I lived the words of that song. Terry "always let me
shine......she " always walked a step behind". I have always and will
always play that song for her. She "really is my hero and everything I wish
I could be." I have never known a nicer, sweeter, more caring human being.
Because of her "I can fly higher than an eagle", she truly is
"the wind beneath my wings". Secondly,
these people who have bestowed awards on our Webpage are heroes to me also....
Not because they have given us awards, but because of the skills they possess
and the way they live their lives. Notice they are all caring, giving,
compassionate people. There is a common characteristic in all their
personalities, even though they are all unique. That characteristic is their
concern for others, their willingness to help, aid and assist others. They are
what this Webpage is all about---daily they go about making this world a better
place. The
background music is for all these people............ my soul mate and all the
others who have enhanced my life and the lives of others. I am so glad I have
had the opportunity to "meet" each of you. Thank you for adding to my
life! JOHN What a nice surprise to find an email message indicating we had won this award from the International Association of Web Masters and Designers. Award received on April 23, 2003
Our most recent award, presented October 29, 2001, is very special. Some people you meet on the Internet touch your real world in a very special, unique and wonderful way. Wanda is one of those persons. She has touched the real world of many people as they ventured into the vast reaches of the virtual world. I have watched as she has quietly gone about making the world a better place for years and she continues to do so. Her accompanying words make the award especially meaningful: "I have started my first award which I call my Heart of America award. I won't take applications for it. I will just give it to sites that touch me and express in a positive way what America is all about. Your site definitely qualifies and I would be honored if you would accept this award for your site." In the
aftermath of the cowardly and treacherous attach on the United States of America
on September 11, 2001, and as many members of our families and friends are now in
harm's way, this award is even more meaningful!
This
award was presented by the Ole' Narc in May of 2000. I had hoped to win this
award for some years and he surprised me and here it is: First,
this award means a very great deal to me because I had the privilege of being
the Captain of the Narcotics Division in a large metropolitan city's police
department and I saw first hand the risks the men and women take to protect the
cities they serve. Untold numbers of selfless acts by these officers go
unnoticed and day after day they accept that. What counts is they know they are
doing all they possibly can to stem the tide of illicit narcotic trafficking in
their areas of responsibilities..... and when and if an officer violates the
trust placed in them, their fellow officers hate it more than any citizen could
ever imagine. Secondly,
This award means a great deal to me because I admire the 'Ole Narc's Web Design
and Construction skills. You, too, will be very impressed when you visit his Web
Site. Click on his award and see what I mean!!! Thanks bigtime, 'Ole Narc!!
".........because
you are doing such a positive service to the web community, I would like to give
you my award titled "For Service to Others." So
wrote Teman Johnson,
a role model for "service to others", in a message accompanying this
award. He has created a Web Site that is mega-impressive! One of his primary
interests is in developing true listening skills. But there is SO much more
contained in Teman's Web Site. As a teacher, Teman has over 28 years of
contributing to the lives of others. He continues to make those contributions
even though he has retired. The
name of his site is the 4
Star Listening Post,
and, as he indicates, it is a friendly place to visit. Teman
has so much to share and is very willing to do just that. He is exactly the kind
of human being Terry and I seek out to salute as one who is MAKING
THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE!!!
Thank you Teman
for what you are doing! Visit his web site!!! You will be glad you did! The
1999 Golden Friendship Award Presented
By Tyshee's Dacha Bobbie
Oskolkoff, aka Tyshee,
is mentioned on our Great Cyber Real Estate (Links) page. Bobbie paid us our
first honor by listing our People Making The World A Better Place on her The
Emerald Palace
Web site and stating we were contributing to world peace! Now Bobbie has honored
us again with Tyshee's Dacha 1999 Golden Friendship Award. What a pleasant
surprise and honor. We would point out again that we believe Bobbie to be an
incredibly talented and caring human being!!! Few have done as much for their
people as Bobbie Oskolkoff! (She also has a wonderful sense of humor.)
Twink's
Friendship Award
We
recently received another award. We had no idea that we were about to receive
this award. That makes it even more special. Everyone
should meet the one who calls herself Twink!
Need to hear a cheerful word? Visit with Twink. She is a bundle of sunshine that
brightens your day and your world. She, too, is a classic example of people
going about making the world a better place. Visit her web sites and make that
decision for yourself! Twinks homepage may be found at Twink's
Turf. Another web
site Twink has created is Twink's
Friendship Site.
The award below leads to another web site!!! Visit them all...
Please
Note This
award is dedicated to a special lady named HOPE!
(Don't you just love that name!) Hope is Twink's adopted mom and she is a very
special person to us. Hope
believes in the power of prayer and so do we. Even though we have never met, we
have prayed for one another and our Sunday School Classes have prayed each for
the other. Hope, even though she does not have a web site of her own, epitomizes
the good that can be created by people using the internet to make the world a
better place! Because
of her values, HOPE has reached to others and made their lives better where she
lives for years and now with the power of the internet, HOPE has reached out to
us, several states away and made our lives better too! HOPE, we believe, both
the person and her name, is a living definition of both our web site and a
"Friendship" award. So,
HOPE, we dedicate this award to you! Thank you for touching our lives and making
them better through TWINK and Twink, thank you sharing HOPE, both the person and
the power! with us Note:
Sadly, I report that Hope is no longer with us, but even though we never met in
real life, she will always be remembered as a caring person filled with
compassion for others.
We

An
Award From A Duchess! Talk
about being lucky! I am married to a Princess and I have just received an award
from a Duchess!! This award is very, very special to me. It is very special for
a number of reasons. First, The Duchess
(Anne) has a very advanced Webpage. I immensely respect and admire her talent in
this area. Second, she has been a mentor, teacher, coach to me (but I am not
sure she knows that). Third, she freely gives of her time and talent for the 50+
Friends Club's Website
Fourth, the award was not freely given. But every time Anne would offer
constructive criticism, she would also offer encouragement and assure me she
would be back to check my progress. Visit her webpage or check her column on the
50+ Webpage and see how Anne, The Duchess, makes the world a better place!
Thank
you Duchess, your award is highly prized! The
DUKE of URL's Classy Site Award I
have admired James Kirk-White's cybertalent for about three years now. Visit his
site, The DUKE
of URL and
you will see why! He has created a truly mega impressive homepage!!! He was
among the people I met when I first visited the 50+ Friends Club. I am
honored to be included with the fine folks on his list!!!
HawaiianI's
Award from EwaNevaland This
is a very, very special award to me. Hillary Sadur (the real HawaaianI) has been
another mentor to me. She has been a great cyber friend...For many reasons, she
is a true hero to me and she is truly making the world a better place. If Terry
and I ever get to the Pacific Paradise she calls home (Hawaii), the first thing
I want to do is meet Hillary face to face. You must visit her at HawaiianI's
EwaNevaland.
I guarantee you will be
impressed! Thanks Hillary, students always like to get prizes from their
teacher!
Lloyd's
Award Another
person making the world a better place! He did it for years as a firefighter and
as a police officer. Now he continues to make the world a better place by means
of his Webpage! Visit his place in the cyberuniverse ( LLOYD'S
HOME ) and see
the good Lloyd is continuing to do! This award is especially appreciated coming
from one who may best described as a life protection specialist. Thanks Lloyd!
Sir
Gallant's Award for Web Site Excellence: Bob Bell is another web artisan who possesses remarkable talent. Upon visiting his home page, I found we are both incredibly fortunate. He, too, has found his soul mate and it is obvious their life is rich and filled with joy. I urge you to visit his cyber castle in Sir Gallant's Realm!
Blossom's
XtraOrdinary Site Award Madine
is a Southern Belle working diligently to spread courtesy and hospitality to
those around her. We have never met, but we sure do think alike. She has some
powerful words in her likes and dislikes section of her webpage. Other parts of
her cyberhome (actually she has several) will impress you too! She is another
person making the world a better place and her Blossom
With Me homepage
helps her do just that!!! The
Bloom Award from the Gibbs' Gallery Jack
and Lynda Gibbs are doing more than their part to make our world a better place.
We were very pleased and surprised to learn we had received their award.
Apparently the
Gibbs
Gallery is no
longer on the net. That is sad because it was a
wonderful respite for a weary cybernaut!
